Paint Shop Pro (32-bit) is a graphics powerhouse that contains the tools you need to paint, edit, and retouch your images, plus a browser to help manage your graphics files. It now offers image layers, which ease image compositing and let you edit parts of an image without affecting other areas. Other new features include multilevel Undo with Undo history, a picture tube brush, support for CMYK separations, an Explorer-style file browser, a free-form deformation tool, an adjustable crop tool, and additional retouch brushes. You'll also find a push brush, Bezier curves, anti-aliased objects, on-screen rulers, customized file associations, direct support for Kodak digital cameras, support for pressure-sensitive drawing tablets, better TWAIN support, support for Adobe PhotoShop file format and import/export plug-ins, monitor gamma correction, and Windows 98 and NT 5 ICM 2.0 color management. In addition, Paint Shop Pro now includes Animation Shop, a program that can save animated .gif files for use in Web pages or in multimedia presentations. Its features include an Animation Wizard for creating animations from a collection of still images, drawing tools for modifying the frames in an animation, support for transparency in animations, and a large number of frame transitions and effects. Still present, of course, are Paint Shop Pro's excellent editing tools, extensive file format support, and easy-to-use interface. Whether you're a graphics professional or just do occasional image editing, this longtime shareware favorite deserves a place on your hard drive.
